FC Cincinnati fell to the New England Revolution, 3-2, Wednesday night at TQL Stadium.
The Orange and Blue (9-10-9, 36 points) lost at home in league play for the first time since May as the Revs (15-10-4, 49 points) clinched a postseason berth with the win.
Tom Barlow delivered an early 1-0 lead for Cincy, picking things up where he left off on Saturday in his three-goal contribution night in Atlanta. The forward now has a goal in three-straight MLS matches for the first time in his career.
New England leveled it up at one goal apiece in the 21st minute, then found their first lead in the 43rd. The visitors scored again in the opening minutes of the second half with what was ultimately the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute.
Kévin Denkey added his name to the score sheet in the 67th minute with his sixth goal in his last four appearances. With 17 league goals and 21 in all competitions, he is one goal away from matching all-time single season club scoring records for both MLS play (18 - Brandon Vazquez & Brenner, 2022; Evander, 2025) and all competitions (22 - Evander, 2025).
In just his second match donning the Orange and Blue, defender Tyrell Malacia picked up his maiden goal contributions with the primary assists on both FCC goals.
FC Cincinnati are back at home Sunday to take on the Columbus Crew in the second leg of the Hell is Real derby. Kickoff for Sunday Night Soccer at TQL Stadium is set for 5 p.m. ET and the match airs on Apple TV, with radio to be carried locally on iHeart Media ESPN 1530 and over the radio on La Mega 101.5 FM. Tickets for all remaining home matches are available at FCCincinnati.com/Tickets or by calling 513-977-KICK.
AS IT HAPPENED
CIN: Tom Barlow, GOAL – 13’ (1-0) – Tyrell Malacia took a throw in down the left side, clearing Kévin Denkey and the New England defender to then find Tom Barlow sneaking in behind the play. The veteran forward tracked down the loose ball and ripped a one-time finish just past the Revs keeper inside the near post for the opening goal.
NE: Dor Turgeman, GOAL – 21’ (1-1) – Josh Wynder won a foot race to a ball played toward the visitor’s corner and crossed it into the box, where Dor Turgeman responded with the equalizer.
NE: Josh Wynder, GOAL – 43’ (1-2) – New England converted a headed corner kick set-piece to take its first lead of the match into halftime.
NE: Dor Turgeman, GOAL – 51’ (1-3) – Video review confirmed that Dor Turgeman stayed onside in front of the net before taking a touch around Evan Louro and ultimately putting in his second goal of the night.
CIN: Kévin Denkey, GOAL – 67’ (2-3) – FC Cincinnati recycled a failed clearance from New England, with Samuel Gidi starting the attack, finding Tyrell Malacia, who created enough separation from his marker to fire off a cross. Kévin Denkey stuck his right foot out for the deflection into the back of the net to bring it back within one goal.
