CINCINNATI, OH --- Jimmy McLaughlin and Tyler Polak both secured spots on the USL Team of the Week after leading FC Cincinnati to a 3-1 win over Ottawa Fury FC last week.
McLaughlin scored the insurance goal in the 42nd minute, taking a smooth heel pass from Danni König and carrying the ball into the box before beating goalie Callum Irving on the right side. McLaughlin boasted an 84.6-percent passing accuracy in the team’s winning effort. He collects his third USL weekly honor this year and has four goals on the year.
Polak was voted to the Team of the Week for the second time after assisting on König’s goal that opened the scoring. Polak lifted a cross to the Danish forward to post his first assist. The defender led the team with seven crosses and registered an 80-percent passing accuracy on the night.
FCC (9-9-7) hosts Pittsburgh Riverhounds in an Orange Out match this Sat., Sept. 2, at 4:00 p.m. The club is partnering with the Red Cross to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and will collect cash donations outside of the gates prior to kickoff.
