CINCINNATI, OH --- FC Cincinnati has added a defensive piece to the roster, acquiring former FC Montreal defender, Mélé Temguia (muh-LAY tem-GHEE-ah) for the 2017 season, pending USL and federation approval.

“We are incredibly excited to add Mélé to our group,” said Head Coach Alan Koch. “For a younger player, he has an excellent understanding of the game. He is a big, strong defender who has the technical ability to allow us to build from the back. He is joining a quality group of defenders and his presence will add to the healthy competition that will drive our team forward.”

Temguia, from Darmstadt, Germany, stands at 6’2” and played for FC Montreal in 2015 and 2016. In his first-year campaign with the club in 2015, he was voted to the USL Team of the Week twice after totaling 1,494 minutes in 19 games played and 16 starts. Last season, Temguia saw limited action, playing in four games.

Temguia attended high school at the École du Triolet in Sherbrooke, Quebec, where he was voted the Provincial Athlete of the Year in 2011. He is currently working on his degree at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

He became a member of the Montreal Impact Academy in 2011 and competed on the team that finished third in the USSDA playoffs in the 2013-14 season. Temguia was selected as the 2012-13 Defensive Player of the Year for the U18 squad.

Temguia will sport No. 74 for FCC and will join the team in training this week.
