The first of four regional pub brackets in the 2018 FC Cincinnati FIFA Tournament, powered by Microsoft, took place this past Sunday at BucketHeads.
Fourty-four players kicked off a city-wide tournament at the West Side watering hole that will pit the winners from the four regional pub brackets -- the other three being May 20th at Rhinehause (Over-the-Rhine), May 28th at Second Place (North Side), and June 17th at Molly Malone's (Covington) -- in semifinal matchups at the Microsoft Store at the Kenwood Towne Center at a date later this summer. The winner of those semifinals will then meet to be crowned the champion of EA Sports FIFA 2018 in Cincinnati, as well as a number of prizes, including field passes, suite tickets and a yet-to-be-released FCC Fan Appreciation scarf.
So, who ended up taking the regional crown at BucketHeads?
There were a number of clear challengers for the regional pub bracket title, with the quartet of Original Pancake, Manns City, Scotts Tots and Kicks 4 Harambe advancing to the final four. But it was Peter Elliott's Scotts Tots that bested Manns City to win the BucketHeads title and becomes the first to advance to the semifinals at the Microsoft Store at Kenwood!
